On Sunday, March 8, 2009, there was a small but nice robot tournament at the undersigned's. Each participant had their own special contribution to the realization of this event. Rob van Son was the initiator and organizer. He also provided a competition schedule. Luuk Hofman was largely responsible for the video and photo material, and Ruud Martin had taken the rare Novag Robot Adversary to Tilburg.
And so that afternoon we played a match between robot chess computers with the Novag Robot Adversary, Excalibur Phantom Force, Milton Bradley Milton and the Novag 2Robot. Nice to be able to hear and see the emotions of the Robot Adversary, but also those of the Excalibur Phantom Force!
Most Novag 2Robots broke down quite quickly after their introduction in 2008. Recently I heard why they broke so quickly. I was told that when the 2Robot is turned on, it must first warm up. So the first five minutes do not set the robot arm in motion, otherwise the arm cannot lubricate itself properly! Too bad this important notice was never in the manual.
As you can see by the photos, I had a large wooden Phoenix case made to properly protect and transport the Milton with plexiglass dust cover. That same case is of course also suitable for the Fidelity Phantom which has the same dimensions. Also nice to see my old interior of the living room again, as a year later came a complete renovation with new furnishings.
You can make a prediction about which robot won the tournament, but you are probably wrong! You can replay a number of games via the extensive article by Rob van Son, which appeared in Selective Search in June-July 2009. See the web link below. What was important was that we enjoyed ourselves very much and sometimes watched the robots play with amazement.
